My Experience with COVID

2020, this year changed the definition of life for everyone- the pandemic took away a lot from many and taught valuable lessons of life to those open to accept and learn.

Did the pandemic affect me?

being physically challenge worked as a boon for, where the lockdown was something that affected many mentally and emotionally…for me it seemed like just another day. The isolation bought me time giving me an opportunity to research, read and learn those subjects which I was interested in but couldn’t make the time as I was caught up with my busy schedule pre Covid. The lock down enabled me to learn basic technical stuff which I always avoided. And the most important thing that happened to me in this period of imposed solitude was, I got the chance to dive deeper within myself; regular practice of yoga, listening to various spiritual talks online, reading translations of a few ancient Indian spiritual texts and meditation- helped me give complete attention to my spiritual life

Physically the Pandamic did affect me; I was tested positive during the second wave. Firstly an early diagnosis of being infected by the virus, following all prescribed guidelines, a positive mind set and a regular practice of yoga and pranayama helped me sail through this phase.

The actual drama commenced from post recovery. Allopathic medication never worked well with my system from the start yet, because of the situation I was trapped in I was forced to consume a few pills. I religiously followed the prescription for four days; when my digestive system gave up I stopped all modern medication on my own responsibility and switched to Ayurveda.

My digestive system took a year to heal and as of now it is still in the process of complete recovery- the liver and spleen suffer the most once one is infected by the virus. The other things I observed in myself gradually post covid were; loss of sleep, mood swings, memory loss and partial depression. Also the other things I observed with myself and my students were, all dormant physical conditions which were put to rest in the past with treatment some how came back into the picture.

For me, thankfully the prolonged practice of yoga and pranayama for years together connects me well with my body. Being well connected with my body made a difference- the slightest change in the condition in any part of my body alarmed me which helped me begin with immediate treatment. Yoga, pranayama and ayurvedic medications and the doctors guidance helped me smoothly recover slo yet steady helping me get back to normal life.

The coming of the virus taught us a lot- it was a wake up call with a message; life cannot be planned completely, we need to be prepared for everything that comes in our way mentally and physically. hygine, health and a proper life style is something we need to give importance. To make life beautiful we need to be healthy and most important we need to learn to live in the moment.
